Default Trouble with networking in W7

My wireless networking works without any issues at all but when i try to connect via ethernet cable ( I prefer it over wireless ) I get connected but can't access the Internet. when i check cmd -> ipconfig i see that my default gateway is set to 0.0.0.0. Anyone know a way around this?

cheers!

First of all, welcome to the forums

Now let's solve your problem.

1.Right-click on your "network icon" and select "Open Network and Sharing Center".
2. In the sidebar on the left click on "Change adapater settings.
3. Do a right-click on your connection and select properties.
4. Double-click on "Internet Protocol version 4"
5. Select "User the following IP address" and below "Use the following dns server address".

Now what do you have to enter there?

First of all you need your router IP. Usually it looks like this:
192.168.1.254 or 192.168.2.254 .. etc

Let's take 192.168.1.254 as an example:

I hope that helps!
This should set your default gateway to 192.168.1.254 or whatever your router IP is.
